University of Minnesota Head Football Coach P.J. Fleck Debuts In “Pizza Elite” Campaign From Red’s Savoy Pizza

Eden Prairie, Minn. (Sept. 1, 2020) – While Big Ten football may be on hold, University of Minnesota Head Coach P.J. Fleck is keeping busy doing what he does best—motivating people. Only this time, rather than motivating Gopher football players to give their all on the field, he’s inspiring hungry customers to be “Pizza Elite™” by choosing Red’s Savoy—and it’s all part of his starring role in the company’s latest ad campaign.

In the new commercials, which can be seen on all major Twin Cities networks, Fleck plays the role of a supreme motivator and coach. In one spot, he encourages a slacker lounging on the couch in his pajamas (or PJs, as he likes to point out) to save the day by ordering Red’s Savoy pizza for lunch. In another spot, he helps rally a delivery driver after he takes a tumble on the way to a customer’s door. Both spots end with Fleck exclaiming, “You are pizza elite!” The 30 second and 60 second commercials starring Fleck can be seen here.

“P.J. was awesome to work with on the new creative,” said company President Reed Daniels. “As an iconic Minnesota brand, we knew we needed someone who stood as an icon in their own right. We couldn’t imagine a better ambassador for our ‘Sota-Style® pizza.”

The “Pizza Elite” creative was done by OWNER, a new sports and entertainment firm. OWNER is a partnership between John King and Tom Garrity. King is best known as creator of the viral sensation, “The Minnesota State High School All Hockey Hair Team.” Garrity currently serves as commissioner of the United States Hockey League.
